that is why our photo shoot was cut short sunday. mason's poor boo boo. he cried and cried buckets of tears sunday. it took a little while to calm him down. we got in the car - me in the backseat with the boys, tish in the front with chris. tisha on her phone trying to find the number for the after hours clinic in fenton, chris trying to find it on the gps. tisha had one of lucas' burp cloths on her, so i had that wrapped around mason's hand to stop the bleeding. we got to the clinic only to find that it closed 18 minutes before we got there. so, we took tisha home and i quickly ran in her house to gather up all of our clothes and other things that we left strung throughout the house as we rushed to change into our "photo shoot clothes". i ran through the house like a mad woman with tisha then i ran back out to the car so we could head up to the hospital. i got out to the car and mason was crying again. i looked at chris and said, "what's wrong?!" he smiled and said, "i lifted up the burp cloth so i could see if it was still bleeding, he saw the blood and freaked out." lol so, we drove to the hospital as fast and safely as we could. chris pulled up to the e.r. to drop me and mason off while he and cole parked the car. i looked into the huge windows of the e.r. and saw tons of people sitting in there with hospital masks on. that was NOT what i was wanting to see. oh well. i gathered up mason and headed into the germ infested waiting room. i wondered whether or not i should have asked the nurse for a hospital mask for each of us to protect us from everyone. i picked 3 chairs as far away from people as i could and sat down and waited for chris. when he and cole got in from parking the car, i immediately pulled my hand sanitizer out of my purse and started putting in their hands. i looked at cole and said, "how long can you hold your breath?" chris laughed and cole looked at me with a puzzled look on his face and said, "huh?" i laughed and said i was just kidding, but i was secretly hoping that we could all magically hold our breath for as long as we had to wait - which seemed like an eternity! while we were waiting, there was a little girl who kept running around the e.r., coughing like crazy. then one time she actually threw up all over. then chris and cole got up to go to the bathroom. while they were gone, a family came in and parked this lady in a wheelchair right next to chris's chair. she looked like death warmed over! she was covered head to toe in a thick blanket, she had a hospital mask on, and she was coughing up a storm! i looked for an escape - somewhere different for us to sit, but there wasn't anywhere! chris and cole came back from the bathroom. right away chris noticed her and he slowed down as he walked back. i could see the hesitation. he slowly sat down and leaned as far away from her as he could. finally, they called mason's name. we gladly followed the nurse back into an e.r. room. the room reminded me of a dentists' office. it had a chair in it instead of a hospital bed. mason climbed up into the chair and sat there like a big boy. he looked so tiny sitting in that chair. they ended up moving us to a different room with a bed. the nurse told us we could turn the t.v. on for the kids while we waited. so, chris found Bolt on the t.v. and i sat on the bed holding mason while cole sat next to us and we watched Bolt. the nurse came in and ended up putting 5 butterfly bandage strips over the wound, and then glued his hand back together. seriously. she pulled out a glue stick and liquid glue came out and she glued his hand. weird! i guess it was better then having to have needle and thread. he was given motrin and we were discharged. on our way out, we walked by the nurses station where the nurse who fixed him us was sitting. she saw us and remembered that she had told the boys she would give them each a coloring book. so, she stopped us and handed the boys their books. chris was carrying mason. he looked over his daddy's shoulder and said to the nurse in the sweetest little voice ever, "thanks for helping me to feel better." our hearts melted right away! it was too precious. i kept the hospital bracelet they gave him. i think i still have the one he got for his first trip to the emergency room when he got the fish hook stuck in his lip. i told chris i'm going to start a collection. i think mason is my accident prone child. oh boy! it's going to be an interesting ride!
