About a week ago Chris and I had planned to get a group together to go to Kensington Park to go canoeing down the river on Saturday. The weather didn't look so promising though. It kept saying rain for Saturday, but there were too many people that couldn't make it on Monday, so Saturday had to be the day. I made reservations for 9 canoes. We had 26 people (including kids) going. I was so excited! On Tuesday, the canoe rental place called and said that canoeing at Island Lake for longer than 1.5 hrs was out because of the water level and if they got anymore rain, we wouldn't be able to go period. The only place that left us was Proud Lake/Huron River which wasn't a nice park. All it was was a parking lot with two picnic tables and a port-a-jon. Seriously. I didn't want to do that because we were going to bring our Badminton set and a football and fishing stuff and frisbees. So I made a last minute decision on Wednesday to cancel the canoeing because we had gotten tons more rain. We decided to get together for our picnic/potluck at the park still. Friday came and I was waiting for rsvp's from everyone. 5 families backed out. :( So that left us with a small group of 11. It was better than nothing, but I was a little disappointed. I decided to make the best of it and still enjoy my weekend! :)
We decided to take the boys camping at Joe and Paulette's for the weekend. We were going to pack up Friday as soon as Chris got home so by the time Cole got home from school, we'd be ready to go. Well, it was calling for rain that night. We got everything gathered up and out by the car and then we made a last second, literally, decision to not go camping. The boys were sad and we wanted to do something fun with them still, so Chris decided we'd take them up to the next exit and stay at a hotel. We found one in our price range, and we quickly left for the hotel which was 5 miles down the road. haha The boys were super excited because they had a swimming pool. After a quick run to the dollar store for arm floaties and pool toys, and a quick stop at Little Caesars for dinner, we went back to our hotel room, ate, and headed to the pool. We had the whole place to ourselves! It was great!

(this is the only picture I have because the camera was fogging up too much from the humidity)
We stayed in the pool for about 2.5 hrs and then decided to go back to our room and play Yahtzee with the boys and eat the snacks I brought. After our game, we started watching National Treasure on tv. Chris was exhausted, so he fell asleep and it didn't take Mason long to follow suit. So Cole and I laid in our beds and watched the movie. It was after 11 pm when the movie was over and as I'm getting ready to turn the tv off, Cole says, "Can I watch cartoons?" lol I told him to go to sleep!!! In the morning, we enjoyed a free continental breakfast. Cole outdid us all. He had a waffle, eggs, and bagel! After that, we packed up and went the 5 miles back home to clean the house because Steve and Jenna were coming over to spend the night.
Off to Kensington Park! We found a nice little spot right on the water and by a swing set. It was perfect! Everyone showed up shortly after us and we started setting up our chairs and getting the food prepared. It didn't take the guys and kids long before they broke out the fishing stuff.

(...the grill master at work)

Mason caught a fish!!!

He was so funny. He'd have Papa put the worm on his hook, then he'd cast, and then instantly he'd start reeling in his line. About 10 seconds later he'd have it pulled back in and his worm would be off the hook because it was getting stuck on the rocks below. My poor Dad had no rest!

I think Mason caught the only fish before lunch and then after lunch, we decided to clean up and play Badminton. So the guys set it up and we played until the rain came. After hurrying to take down the net and put everything back in the car, Steve, Jenna, and Danny headed to our house. We talked, snacked, Chris and Danny put on a mini concert for Steve, and then we ordered pizza and watched half of a movie before we all crashed. :)
Sunday, after services, we had Logan's for lunch, then we headed back to Mom and Dad's for the day. The guys went up on the deck and shot at a target. Chris was the sharp shooter of the bunch. (Oh yeah!) Mom, Mason, and I decided to play Sorry. We heard there was a storm on its' way so Mom turned on the tv to listen to the weather. There were tons of tornado watches and a few warnings. We were confused as to which one we were in. One minute they'd say we were under a watch, then we'd hear warning. We heard Fenton's sirens going off and it was raining, but it didn't look bad out. We went in the basement for about one minute and then we just stayed upstairs. We finished our game and I won. :) So, I got to pick the next game. I chose Charades! We broke up into two teams. It was Me and Chris and the boys against Mom, Dad, and Danny. We chose Songs, Movies, and Tv Shows for our opposing team. We lost. :( But it was tons of fun! The winning team chose Spoons. The first person out was Cole, then Dad, then Mom, then Me. So that left the two brothers.

Danny won.
The boys were falling asleep, so Mom said we could just put them upstairs and they could stay the night. As Chris was tucking them in upstairs, the power went out. Obviously, the boys were scared, so they ended up going home with us. :) Thankfully our house still had power. In the morning, we just relaxed and got ready. Chris was waiting to hear from Dad and Danny because they had a flooded basement to clean up and a generator to plug in. Finally, around 1:00, Mom came over to play games and the guys headed off to Fenton Farms to play golf. We played games while the boys played outside in the sprinkler. It didn't take long for us to discover that they were "washing" their Grandma's car. :) It was so cute. They were using the sprinkler to fill up a 5 gallon bucket and they found rags in the garage to "wash" it with. To entice them to do a little bit better job on it, she told them she'd give each $5 if they did a good job. :) While we were playing Chicken Foot, Mom happened to look out the window and told me to come look. Both of the boys were on top of the car. Mason was standing on the hood of the car and Cole on the trunk. lol Later on, after we played some games and tried to keep cool in the heat, the guys called to say they were on their way. So we fired up the grill and started on dinner. They left right after dinner, but we had a very fun weekend!
