Monster Trucks!

Last weekend, we decided to take the boys to the monster truck show at the Perani Arena. They were advertising that there would be quad races and a freestyle motocross show as well. We knew the boys would love that.

The arena was small. Really small.



They had a "pit" area that you could pay $5 for and you could meet the drivers and get a ride on a monster truck.



But I'm glad we didn't pay for that because there were only 4 trucks and I think it would have been a waste of money. Plus, I don't know if we could have gotten Mason down there next to the big monster trucks or even on one for that matter! He was a little scared. He especially didn't like it when they started their engines and revved them up. They were pretty loud. Chris and I didn't put our ear plugs in right away because it wasn't that loud. They only had the truck that people were getting rides in running and it wasn't loud. We gave the boys their ear plugs though. Poor Mason. He didn't even want to take his coat off. He sat like a statue in his seat and was afraid to move. :)



Eventually, we talked him into taking his coat off. After they started all the trucks up and started revving them up, Chris and I put our earplugs in. When they revved up the engine, I jumped because it was so loud. And that arena was small, like I said, so the sound was even louder.

Time for the show to begin! First: The National Anthem



Then freestyle motocross.



After that, they did a quad race.



You'll be able to notice that in the rest of the pictures, there is a slight fog in the pictures. The smoke from the exhausts was really bad. It smelled really strong too. Chris was getting a headache from it and Mason was coughing. Plus, Mason kept going back and forth between my lap and his Dad's because he was scared. :)

Then they brought out the big monster trucks!

(The bottom left hand picture - that was Mason's favorite part of the monster trucks. Correction. His only favorite part. haha. The guy gunned it and drove really fast up to the wall in front of where we were sitting and then slammed on his brakes just before hitting the wall. We were in the second row, so he was pretty close. But when he got up to the wall, he stopped and pointed to the little kids. Mason was one of the kids that he pointed to. Mason thought that was pretty cool.)

They did some crashing and jumping. No roll overs though. The arena was so small that they had to keep backing up to turn around. lol This was a very redneck event, to say the least.

The kids had fun though (well, Mason liked everything except the monster trucks) and we enjoyed being with them and seeing them have fun.

It felt so good to step outside. It was freezing cold, but the air smelled so good and clean (and that's saying alot since we're talking about Flint air lol).

Chris decided to treat us all to dessert after the show, so we headed down the road to Applebee's. The boys got oreo sundaes and Chris and I shared a huge cookie chocolate fudge ice cream sundae. I forget the name of it, but it was huge and delish! The boys even got to hear Collective Soul come on the radio while we ate our dessert. They had one exciting night! :)
