they keep me laughing: Shedd Aquarium (Day 2 cont....)

Ok. I left you off with our wild and crazy cab ride....

Now - the aquarium.

(...they had different kinds of sting rays. they were really pretty.)

(...I know there's a glare on the glass, but can you see how huge that turtle is?!)

(.. piranha I think. Chris knows what these all are.)

(...this fish was on the river monster show we watch. It was HUGE and UGLY!)

(...Chris said this fish looked like it was wearing eye shadow and lipstick lol)

(...the center of the aquarium had a giant aquarium filled with a mammoth sized turtle and fish. There was a guy in there feeding the fish.)

(...I think this is a lion fish. Cole knew what it was as soon as he saw the picture.)

(...they had an area where the floor was plexi glass and you could stand over the sting rays)

After the Aquarium, we headed next door to the Museum. We were getting hungry for lunch so we decided to grab the famous Chicago style hot dogs for lunch.

(...they were really good! I didn't eat my jalapeno, but it was still good.)

These next two pictures really should have gone with the first post about our shoe shopping, but I didn't think to get pictures of our shoes until the next day. lol So...here they are...

Ok. Now on to the Field Museum.

(..Sue the dinosaur. I guess she's the most complete dinosaur so far)

(...her actual head was upstairs in a glass case. I guess her head weighs over 600 lbs and so they had to put a fake one with her body because the frame and everything attached to her body couldn't hold her head too. So her real head was upstairs. It was neat though because it had all this information about what her skull was like when they found it and they had pictures of how they fixed it to look better. It was pretty neat.)

(..The Egyptian display was interesting but creepy and sad too. They had mummies of little children in it. I didn't like seeing those. It was amazing though how small the adults bodies were.)

After we left the museum, we walked for what seemed like forever til we reached the red line sub so we could go back to our hotel. We got dinner reservations for a fancy Italian restaurant, but their only opening was for 9:30 pm. We were really hungry since we hadn’t had lunch since around 2, so we decided to grab appetizers at the restaurant at the bottom of our hotel. Well, they had a 30 minute wait, so we went to our room and ordered a pizza for room service. That was fun. This pizza was the thickest pizza we’ve ever eaten!

We relaxed for a little while and watched tv until it was time to make our way to dinner.

(...chris's meal - lamb risotto. The pictures are a little blurry because it was so dark in the restaurant. They had the lights dimmed real low and small candles at each table. Nice and romantic, but hard for pictures.)

(...this was where we ate dinner our first night. I forgot to get a picture of it then, so I got one on our way back from dinner.)

(on our way back to the hotel after dinner, we passed a car that broke down in the middle of a busy one way street. We listened to him trying to start his car as we passed by. It wasn't going anywhere! I had to take a picture of the huge backup he caused! These people were soooo mad!!! There was a block up for about 5 blocks and it caused backups on the side streets too from people trying to turn onto that street! lol - and that's why we were soooo glad we didn't take our car!)
